EP Ballylumford Power Station

This was recently demonstrated through our work with our valued supplier, Tensar, and consultancy support from Geoman LTD, in assisting EP Ballylumford and their main contractor, Zenith, on a landmark project at Ballylumford Power Station.

EP Ballylumford is renowned for its world-class engineering standards, and when it came time to safely dismantle the site’s towering steel chimney, precision planning and reliable ground support were essential. Understanding the complexity of operating large cranes on variable ground conditions, JP Corry stepped in to provide a solution that ensured safety and stability from the ground up.

Working closely with Tensar, we supplied high-performance Tensar NX850 geogrid — an integral component of the crane foundations and the wider working platform. This geogrid reinforcement provided the robust support needed for heavy lifting equipment, distributing loads efficiently and minimising ground movement.

The result? Zenith’s industry-leading onsite specialists were able to focus on their highly skilled dismantling operations with confidence, knowing the working platform beneath their equipment was engineered for maximum stability and safety.
